Our programs service thousands of children throughout Pennsylvania,
Michigan, Florida, and South Carolina and are in the process of
expanding to several other states as well. Our governing body, the
International Tang Soo Do Federation, has thousands of students with
schools throughout the world. Our program offers traditional martial
arts training to children ages 3-12, and emphasizes drug awareness
and anti-kidnapping techniques. All of our schools have outstanding
self-defense and karate training for teens and adults as well.
Our “style” of martial art is called Tang Soo Do (pronounced Tong Sue
Doe). Tang Soo Do dates back over 2,000 years ago and is taught in its
traditional form. Our Grandmaster is one of the most noted Korean
Masters in the world. Grandmaster C S Kim has been the cover story
many times for leading martial arts magazines such as Black Belt. He
was inducted into the Karate Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in
New York, coached the United States Karate Team, and was undefeated
World Champion, to name a few of his accomplishments. All of our
instructors are fully trained and certified by Grandmaster C S Kim. Our
instructors must also attend ongoing certification programs so that
they may effectively teach at the highest level possible. This program
is much different from other martial art programs because it was
specifically designed for children.
Our programs teach prevention first then if all else fails, we teach
techniques that a child can effectively use against an attacker. Our
programs are designed to help children deal with today’s problems and
peer pressures.
These programs do not promote active aggressiveness and teach
children respect for themselves, others, and the skills they learn. They
are taught when, where, and how to use their techniques, and are
constantly reminded that if they use their skills for something that it
was not intended for, they will be expelled from the organization
forever. Fortunately, this rarely ever happens; in fact we have found
that most children seen “kicking on the playground” are those who
have had no prior martial arts training and have picked this behavior
up from watching cartoons or karate shows on television.
The children will also learn to have the discipline and self-confidence
to walk away from peer pressure, ignore the school bully, and be more
aware of their surroundings so that they can avoid trouble outside
their home. They will also become more physically fit. It’s no secret
that America has fallen far behind other countries concerning fitness in
today’s youth, and it is a proven fact that physical fitness helps
promote better study habits.
You will find that our programs are very affordable in comparison to
other martial art programs in our area. Children who participate in our
after school programs are welcome to attend class at our Mt. Pleasant
School at no additional charge. I am sure that after you see our
programs in action, you will agree that your children will learn grow and
gain benefits that last
a life time.
Sincerely,
